 Answer:

Please make sure your operation steps are correct. Since the charger control IC will check the battery status immediately once the DoWatch is power up, you should attach the DoWatch to the charger, and then connect the charger to the power supply via a USB cable. If there is still no battery icon, please check your DoWatch circuit.

 Answer:

This function is off by default. If you want to use it, please turn on the option Shake in the setting, and then shake the Dowatch up and down rapidly to trigger this function. Notices that don't move the Dowatch right and left, or else you cannot startup this function. If this still doesn't work, you may clean the surface of the steel ball and the tin contacts, to eliminate bad contact. Also, you can adjust the shaking sensitivity of DoWatch by changing the positions of the tin balls at the pads of BEAD on the board C. The sensitivity decreased when the tin balls get closer to each other, and vice versa.

 Answer:

In fact, gold is a kind of inert metal, not easy to be oxidized. So gold plating is always applied to PCBs for oxidation-proof. In the current market, most device contacts or interfaces employ gold plating process or ENIG to ensure product quality, including USB connector, SIM card and SD card contacts. And the application of gold plating has become an industrial standard, since it can eliminate bad contact. The so-called gold plating layer oxidation, in fact, is the result of inferior gold plating process which causes a part of the copper layer to expose to the air and turn to black by oxidation reaction. However, it has no effect to the conductivity of the gold plating layer. For DoWatch, we adopt the top quality PCB with excellent gold plating process. The gold plating layer will not be oxidized by sweat causing bad contact, but may merely be wearing out by the friction with the charger for a long time.

 Answer:

Indeed, it is easy to gather the dust. And you only need to sweep your finger over the gap to remove the dust. Since the OLED is a matte screen, not easy to leave finger print, the dust removing action will not make any effect to the appearance of your DoWatch.

 Answer:

We have considered this issue, so the pressure keys are designed in a large contact area in order to raise the contact and hit rate. And the pressure keys have passed the performance test. In additional, the gap between board A and B is very tiny, not easy to gather the dust, so it will not be a problem.

 Answer:

There is an interrupt for this function. And the test shows that each interrupt processing may take 1μs or less, ultra-low power consumption. The wrist movement may trigger this function occasionally, making the OLED light up to show the time information. However, even if the DoWatch is waked up 40 times a day, it still can standby for more than 7 days.

 Answer:

Yes, the body temperature has impact on the temperature measurement. And all kinds of watch may have this problem, since it is relative to the hardware. So the temperature measurement result is only a reference.

 Answer:

The test shows that the components within the DoWatch may not be damaged in this case. But you may find that OLED display will become dark and the MCU should be reset. Firstly, you should blow hot air into the DoWatch from all sides with the hair drier for 5mins. Then, short-circuit the contacts + and - on the back shell of the DoWatch to reset the MCU. After the processes above, it is recommended to charge your DoWatch immediately to protect the battery from damage.

 Answer:

We have tested the hardness of the PCB material. Even if the spring bar is pulled and bent, the board E is still in a good condition without damage. Indeed, the spring bar of the DoWatch is not easy to be bent as well.

 Answer:

There are two possible reasons: low battery causing MCU works improperly and the pressure keys short out. For the former, you should charge your DoWatch. Attaching the DoWatch to the charger, you may find that the MCU will reset and the OLED will show the version number. For the latter, you should raise the pressure keys one by one. If the time information disappears, it means the key you raise shorts out. This is because two pieces of PCB are adhering together for improper welding. In this case, you can melt the tin in the fix holes of the boards A and B to make them separate. Or you can place a 2*2mm plastic sheet to the gap between the boards A and B nearby the key (Don't place the plastic sheet to the space under the center of the key).

Welding Issues

 Answer:

The PCBs of the DoWatch are in a smart design, so you should be careful in welding them. The welding temperature should be controlled within 360℃. And don't weld the parts for a long time. On the board C, there are some NC pins for OLED, MCU, RTC IC. In case that the pads of these pins peel off, it will not affect the circuit. For more detailed information, please refer to the website DoWatch Making Guide. But, if other pads on the boards peel off, you may contact us to purchase another new board.

 Answer:

It is not so difficult, but you should be patient to do it. Firstly, melt the tin of one of the fixed holes (there are 4 fixed holes in total) with an electric iron, and raise the board F to create a gap between the board F and the board E. Then, melt the tin of another fix hole, and rotate the board F in clockwise or anticlockwise to raise it up. And then, go towards the next fix hole, and the next. By this way, the fixed holes of the board F will be loosened and the board F will be raised up gradually. Repeating the processes described above, the board F will be completely separated from the board E at final. Then, smooth the tin left on the board F and the board E with the electric iron, to make your future remounting easier. The method presented here may require patience since it takes a lot of time, but it works and does not damage the PCB. So we recommend it.
