100Pin Connector (J2000)

Note: Before use, ensure the connector between the camera expansion board and the RDK S100 is fully engaged and secured with mounting screws to guarantee reliable signal connection.
This is the connection port between the camera expansion board and the RDK S100. It provides functional interfaces (MIPI CSI and GPIO) and power (12V and 3.3V) for the camera expansion board.

DC Power Input (J2001)

The camera expansion board is equipped with an external 12V power input jack (adapter plug specification: inner diameter 2.5mm, outer diameter 6mm) for GMSL cameras. An external 12V adapter must be connected via this DC jack to power the GMSL cameras when the total 12V power current demand of all GMSL cameras connected to this board exceeds 700mA.

GMSL Camera Interface (J2100)

The camera expansion board integrates a MAX96712 deserializer chip, enabling connection for up to 4 GMSL2 cameras. It can also provide 12V power to GMSL cameras via coaxial cables.
Note:

  • When the 12V power current requirement of the GMSL camera is within 700mA, no external 12V adapter is needed; the 12V power is supplied by the RDK S100. If the current demand exceeds 700mA, an external 12V adapter must be connected to ensure a stable power supply for the GMSL camera module.
  • The camera expansion board can provide a maximum of 550mA@12V per GMSL camera. Exceeding this current specification may compromise the stable operation of the GMSL camera module.
  • The GMSL interface uses a mini Fakra 4-in-1 z code connector. It is recommended to use cables recommended by D-Robotics to ensure stable transmission of GMSL high-speed signals.

MIPI Camera Interfaces (J2200, J2201)

The camera expansion board is equipped with 2×4 Lane MIPI CSI D PHY interfaces, supporting the simultaneous connection of two MIPI cameras. The MIPI camera interfaces support two logic levels: 1.8V and 3.3V, and provide developers with either an LPWM sync signal or a 24MHz MCLK signal. Note:

  • The maximum supply current for VDD_PERI_3V3 across both MIPI camera interfaces is 500mA. The VDD_PERI_3V3 power is turned off when the system is in light sleep or deep sleep mode.
  • The MCLK frequency for both MIPI camera interfaces is 24MHz, provided by an active crystal on the camera expansion board.

MIPI Interface Level Switch (SW2201)

The control signals of the MIPI camera interfaces support switching between 1.8V and 3.3V logic levels, facilitating connection to camera modules with different requirements. The logic level is switched by changing the position of the DIP switch SW2201.

Switch number Camera number 3V3 1V8
1 (Right) MIPI camera 1 MIPI camera 1 interface uses 3.3V logic level MIPI camera 1 interface uses 1.8V logic level
2 MIPI camera 2 MIPI camera 2 interface uses 3.3V logic level MIPI camera 2 interface uses 1.8V logic level

MIPI Interface Function Switch (SW2200)

Pin 5 of the MIPI camera interface connector supports switching between two functions: LPWM and MCLK (24MHz), to meet different development needs. The function is switched by changing the position of the DIP switch SW2200.

Switch number Camera number LPWM MCLK
1 (Right) MIPI camera 1 Pin 5 of MIPI camera 1 interface is LPWM signal Pin 5 of MIPI camera 1 interface is MCLK signal
2 MIPI camera 2 Pin 5 of MIPI camera 2 interface is LPWM signal Pin 5 of MIPI camera 2 interface is MCLK signal

Power Indicator LED (D2000)

The power indicator LED is located next to the DC power jack.

Assembly Guide

  • Power off the development board and disconnect the DC plug before installation. During installation, ensure the main board and the expansion board remain parallel. Apply even force to engage the connectors fully, ensuring a tight and secure connection to avoid damaging the connectors.

Note: Before connecting an MIPI camera, ensure the camera's logic level requirement matches the position of the DIP switch (SW2201) to prevent communication issues or device damage.
