3.1 General Firmware Upgrade
The JTAGICE XPII can be upgraded by the end user as new firmware becomes available to provide support for new parts and families, as well bugfixes.
Note: Firmware Upgrade is required when the JTAGICE XPII stops working or communicates with new versions of AVR Studio.
There are two ways to start firmware upgrade. One is follow the system prompting before entering program mode when detecting a new version of AVR Studio, and the other is selecting "JTAGICE mkII upgrade..." from the Tools menu.
Generally select "Auto" for the Port box. Select a specific port when necessary.
DO NOT disconnect the JTAGICE XPII or Power Down while upgrading.
