3.1 General Firmware Upgrade

Firmware upgrading is usually handled automatically by AVR Studio, if the firmware distributed with AVR Studio is newer than the firmware loaded into the AVRISP XPII.

There are two ways to start firmware upgrade. One is follow the system prompting before entering program mode when detecting a new version of AVR Studio, and the other is following the procedure below:

Select "Program avr" located in the "Tools" menu in AVR Studio. Press the "Connect" button.

Select "HW Settings", then press the "Upgrade" button in the Firmware Upgrade window.

Click the "Start Upgrade" button.

Successfully upgraded. Toggle AVRISP XPII power by unplug and re-insert the USB cable.

The AVRISP XPII is now upgraded and ready for use!
